‘I left my towel at the monks dorm near the highway. Can someone bring it to me or can I borrow/buy one?’ mag19
ana panasity = in and out breathing
we learned today that it is easy to stimulate the mind outside the monastery …stimulus sought after or not is everywhere…TV…movies…starbucks…talking etc…all this stimulus leads our minds to boredom…the mind keeps wanting more and better quality stimulus…the monks believe that it’s better to stimulate the mind by clearing the mind…think of an etch a sketch…give the noodle a shake every once in a while…the reason for this is simple…the mind is trained to crave stimulus…it will crave the stimulus to keep it from being bored…however one can’t escape boredom for ever…one can hide and run and find all sorts of creative excessive stimulus…{food, drugs, sports, love, relationships, anger, reading, cooking, lunch, cars etc}…but the boredom will eventually catch up with us…it always does…thus we are in an endless cycle of craving more stimulus…we humans take our boredom everywhere we go in various forms…the monks call it Dukkah = problems, worries…
Dukkah is self-created by the mind or the ego…keeps us craving more stimulus…meditation takes the mind away from Dukkha…away from wanting more stimulus…I guess with a clear mind I can make better choices…I believe this to be true…when I look at my own life the amount of stimulus I have now is considerable less than in years past and I am the happiest I have ever been…
I really enjoyed the chanting today…it lifted my spirits…I was feeling low energy all day today…I feel that tomorrow will be a much stronger day…my nose leaked like a sieve all day today…
Oh one other thing…the food here is…well it’s a bit weird in that I haven’t poohed in three days…I’m feeling kind of worried…I wonder if I should ask someone…
Rest in peace
